Personal Space, 2020

My goal is to create an ethereal landscape in which we may exist when we are disconnected from our physical selves. Many struggle with mental and neurological health issues that create a gap between the mind and body. This can happen in shorter moments like sleepwalking or seizures, or it can become your new life, as with Alzheimer’s Disease. I experiment with chine colle and intaglio, using confetti, tissue paper, and glitter to adhere to prints. Hand-built porcelain frames are also included in this series. I hope viewers find comfort and familiarity in the haunting figures, as most of us will be visiting this “gap” throughout our lives.
